My first pricey keyboard was a Creative Fatal1ty board, which was great for a while…until the backlight died and I found out how hard it was to keep the thing clean.

I decided to buy this to work with my PS3. There’s just one issue with the PS3, and I don’t know if there’s something I’m doing wrong, but sometimes, when I turn the PS3 on, the keyboard isn’t recognized, so I have to go to the settings and manually reconnect the device, but it’s a dream, other than that.
The board is really light; the battery life is pretty amazing (months with regular batteries and with rechargeables, I’m sure you’d be in business for more than a year, without needing a new set); It’s really sturdy. I’ve dropped the board plenty of times, and it still looks and works great. The board is really easy to keep clean too (I’ve never tried taking off any of the keys, but cleaning the board with a damp cloth does a great job for topical stains).

I haven’t tried to board with a pc yet, but I look forward to it and matching the board with my tower by getting it painted.

The only con to me is that it doesn’t have a backlight (which would make it great in the dark)…but I don’t know what kind of strain that would put on the batteries and how long the light would last. I never used the numberpad, so I don’t miss it. I thought I might’ve been paying a little too much, at first…but I haven’t regretted buying this keyboard, not once.

I was looking for an upgrade to my 4 year old Dell, and having had good luck with a Toshiba before I decided to buy another Toshiba Satellite. When the package was opened and powered up, the Satellite took off! It installed all of the software in short order. The screen is big and bright with really great resolution. The touch pad was a bit too sensitive, but it is easily adjusted. The keyboard is big, compared to my old Dell, and has a good feel. I also like having the number keypad, just like a desk top system. The Satellite comes with a lot of handy software for keeping the system running and protected (i.e. Norton security suite). The only thing which disappointed me is the built-in speakers. They sound cheap and tinny. Through headphones, the audio is great, so it is only the speakers.

We initially purchased 3 of these and then I ordered 4 more. We used them to replace some older retail machines. These are refurbished and some of them do have scratches and dings, but the inner working have totally been gone over and replaced where necessary. Thus far we’ve been very pleased. I recommend adding another gigabyte of memory, which you can get from Amazon for . Being a prime customer I was able to get free 2 day shipping, which made the deal even sweeter.

I was really surprised how fast these machines are considering they aren’t dual core, but the pentium 4 does have hyper-threading and of course the adding ram certainly helps with Windows XP Professional. You do get a copy of Windows XP Professional and a new Key-code with the purchase. Also comes with a fairly decent keyboard, but an older crappy roller ball mouse. It works, but for 3 I am not complaining!

I’d even recommend this commercial grade computer for someone looking for a rock solid PC for home use too.

With the current offering of x58 MB this one stands out for several reasons. It does not sport any of the bling-bling you see on “eXtreme gam3r” products like crazy heat pipes (moving “teh heatz” whole 3″ away!) and overclocking widgets. Instead it offers sensible thermal design – all slots are aligned with the air direction in the case from front to back, this includes DIMMs and power connectors, and SATA are angled on the edge of the board so the cables don’t obstruct air-flow too. Unlike heat pipes this does provide better cooling. In place of overclocking options it has comprehensive set of powersaving and monitoring tools also reducing heat and plenty of 4-pin fan connectors with controlled speed so it can be made whisper-quiet, especially when idle. It supports ECC and 6 DIMMs which is a pretty rare combo. Overall it’s the best MB for work I could find – stable and quiet. Note that the picture is of another MB – C7X58 does not have two PCI-X slots shown. There are only solder points for them so keep this in mind if you have many add-on boards, this has 2 PCI-E x16, 1 PCI-E x8 and 1 PCI.
